I have always focused most upon local subjects, especially those places, people, and things that mean most to me. Each painting has a story behind it. I am especially attracted by the way that time of day or season can alter an ordinary scene enough to take my breath away. I often paint several pieces focusing upon a single subject, such as the Hotel Stockton from various vantage points and in different lighting conditions.

Since moving to Stockton, my greatest interest is the Sacramento/San Joaquin River Delta. My River Series includes images from the waterways in and around Stockton, from wildlife to port activity to recreation to agriculture. For those who have access to the main channel and the rivers that feed into it, my paintings will be familiar. To those who don’t have that opportunity, I’m hoping my paintings will inspire them to become more familiar with Stockton’s part of the largest Pacific coast estuary in the Americas.
